Sunday 03/15 - It may have been a record temp day here in
the mountains. The morning temp started at 24 degrees and quickly rose into the
40s and then the 50's. We took a ride to Vail after mass and as we went over Vail Pass
at 10,620 feet it was 54 degrees. As we drove into town, it was 58 degrees. We
parked our car in Lionshead
Village and walked to the
lifts. The outdoor restaurants were filled with people taking in the sun in
short sleeve shirts. Our table had a view of the skiers coming down into a
slushy bottom of the mountain. Not sure what the condition was at the top, but
some of the skiers I talked to said it was GREAT. Tomorrow will be another day
of record warm temps. If we are going to ski, it will have to be at 8:30am when
the trails open. I hope I can get up that early.
