Saturday 02/28 - Yesterday and last night we only had about
1 inch of new snow. Tonight and tomorrow is suppose to be a heavy snowfall. Our
parking lot was crowded with cars and the service road handled the overflow.
While the sun was out in the morning, by 10:30am it was overcast and by 2pm, it
started to snow ever so lightly. Because the wind picked up, the kite skiers
were out on the lake trying their skill out. We went for a lake around the lake
with Benny, had a good lunch and then got ready to go out tonight for a good
steak dinner. LET IT SNOW.

Friday 02/27/15
Friday 02/27 - We had another 3 inches last night with more
to come. The morning sun, what little of it I could see, made the trees shine.
It even created a rainbow in the sky. As I walked Benny to get the newspaper,
the town had a calm to it. No one was out yet. Copper Mtn again was our choice.
The bus you take from the parking lot to the lifts run on solar power. The
buses have a panel on top that generates
enough energy to run the bus. With all of the new snow, this weekend will be
filled with skiers at all of the ski resorts. They were already arriving this
afternoon. Tonight we go to the Arapaho
Cafe for grilled cheese sandwiches and mussels.
Oh by the way, last night I had the Chocolate Milk Stout and one there
wasn't any milk in it and I didn't taste the chocolate. I am back to my regular
beer.
Thursday 02/26/15
Thursday 02/26 - Day 1 of our storm brought 5 inches of new
power overnight. However, in the morning the sun was out making the snow
crystals shine brightly on the trees. The temps dipped to 1 or 2 degrees this
morning making it a very cold ski day. With all of the melting we had, the new
snow could easily be seen on the roof tops. We went to Copper Mtn and had many of the trails to ourselves. From the
lift we saw the snow cat grooming the terrain park for the snow boarders. Later
on, we saw the ski patrol readjusting the padding around the poles for the new
snow that was received. And at the end
of the day, we saw all of the instructors and little kids finishing up. By
2:30pm, it started to snow again. Maybe we will get another 5 inches tonight.
Anyway, we will be going to the Dam Brewery to try the Chocolate Milk Stout.

Wednesday 02/2515
Wednesday 02/25 - I guess you have to worry about what you
wish for. This morning when I turned on the weather channel, the forecast for
today and the next 6 days is SNOW. The clouds had already descended on the
mountains to the point that I couldn't see them. And by 8am, the snow had started. Since the
weather was getting bad we went to Keystone. It continued to snow until 10am,
when the clouds opened and the sun came out. They say that there is a sunshine
doughnut hole that happens around mid day. However, it didn't last long and by
3pm, it was snowing again. We decided not to go out for dinner tonight and as I
was reading the newspaper, I saw an ad for organic Chocolate Milk Stout at the
Dam Brewery. Can't wait til tomorrow to have some.

Tuesday 02/24/15.
Tuesday 02/24 - While we didn't get any more
snow over night, the cold air certainly moved in. This morning at 7am, it was 3
degrees under a cloudless sky. Thank goodness there wasn't any wind. By 10am, it was already warm. - temp was 10
degrees. The snow of the past few days have made the mountains a very
picturesque scene. We went to Copper Mtn today and the first thing we usually
do is check out the grooming sign. This tells us where we should ski
today. By 1:30pm, the temperature was in the mid 20s and many of the skiers
were having lunch outside at the Fyers
food stand. Overall it was a great ski day. The weather forecast is
again calling for a 4 or 5 day snow event with very low temperatures. Maybe
this time the storm will be west of the divide

Monday 02/23/15
Monday 02/23 - Even though we received only 1 additional
inch of snow last night, the mountains received another 4 inches. Every bit
helps. The trees at Keystone were all covered with the snow fall and the kids
snow board park was groomed and ready to go. This week the kids that go to
school in Summit County are off from school. We had
expected that there would be more crowds but not today. The trails were all
groomed exactly the way we want them. There isn't any better skiing than skiing
on corduroy. After skiing today we were going to stop and have a drink, but the
Apres Ski prices were not in the range that I am use to - $5.50 for a 12 ounce,
and $7.50 doe a 16 ounce beer. I wonder what the regular prices are. One thing
that I have had to do the last several mornings, was to clear the car of snow.
Now I know what it feels like back East.

Sunday 02/22/15
Sunday 02/22 - The STORM has become a storm on
the east side of the Continental Divide - The Denver side. While we had another
1 inch of snow, Denver
and the surrounding area had 9-16 inches of snow. When I looked at the snow
totals in the mountains, Breckenridge
had 6 inches as measured at the top of the mountain at 11,260 feet. However,
the day became very cold and windy. The snow hasn't stopped the vacationers and
Denver people
from coming up the mountain. Our parking lot was full and we had cars lining up
on the roadside. We even saw a car cargo truck parked outside. The sun that
came out did little to warm the day. By mid afternoon, it started to snow a
little, not much accumulation. After lunch, we travelled along the Dillon Dam
road to get to Frisco and encountered blowing snow over the roadway. This
roadway is usually closed due to this. Maybe tonight, the STORM will move west.

Saturday 02/21/15
Saturday 02/21 - Overnight we only an 1 inch of snow
bringing our total for the BIG storm to 5 inches so far. But the snow has
covered the trees and the roadways creating a beautiful wonderland. On the
highways, the caution signs still have the Winter Storm warning for
continuation of the snow thru Sunday. The snow plows are constantly going back
and forth over the local streets to the point that you can star to see the
payment again. On the TV, the weathermen are saying the snow will pick up late
this afternoon and that is when the snow will start to pile up. When have they
been RIGHT? During the day, only about another inch has fallen. Maybe tonight
will be the night.

Friday 02/20/15
Friday 02/20 - The morning started with clouds starting to
move in and the roads were still clear of snow. We really didn't know whether
the weather forecast of heavy snow was going to become true. We have had a lot
of false reports. We went to Copper Mtn to ski and by 11am, the snow started.
It was light at the start and then started to become heavy. By noon time, the
snow caused us to stop skiing. With the
wind, the conditions really became unbearable. By 3pm, we had about 4 inches on
the ground and it was still snowing hard. But by 6pm, the snow stopped. Lets
hope the snow starts again overnight and continues thru the weekend.

Thursday 02/19/15
Thursday 02/19 - Hopefully this is the calm before the
storm. Snow scheduled to start tomorrow and continue into Monday. It was a good
day at Breckenridge. The sun was out in full force, a little wind and a few
people. We skied mainly Peak 7, which is one of the newer areas. At the base of
the lift is a hotel that features an outdoor swimming area and bar. The chairs
outside were filled with people just taking in the sun. At the top of the lift
you can continue onto t-bar lift that will take you up to 12000 feet. The view
from that point is breath taking. With the sun shinning, I saw several people skiing
topless (men) and in their underwear. I am sure they will not be doing that
tomorrow.
Wednesday 02/18/15 - Ash Wednesday
Wednesday 02/18 - We are all partied out. Today is a day of
rest. It was a beautiful day on the lake. We walked out about 500 yards and we
were the only two on the lake. It felt great in the sun and brisk air. We had
lunch out at the Sunshine Cafe and then we drove our friends to the Denver Airport . Returning we stopped in downtown Denver and had dinner at
the famous Spaghetti Factory. Overall it was a relaxing day. The weather
forecast for Friday thru Monday calls for SNOW, SNOW and more SNOW.

Tuesday 02/17/15 - Fat Tuesday
Tuesday 02/17 - Today it was all about Fat Tuesday. After
skiing at Copper Mtn in the wind and blowing snow, we returned home to put our
Mardi Gras beads and outfits on. This afternoon at JJ's Bar and Restaurant, Moe
Dixon play for a large crowd in a ranch of music. Music direct from New Orleans to the
standard country and western. The fun began at 3:15pm and ended around 6:15pm.
Moe plays non-stop and gets everyone up and dancing. There is a lot of dancing
on the bar, drinking Balley's out of a shot ski and beads being thrown around.
It is a great night of partying.
